Meta-worry, anxiety, and depression in the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic: Brazil, June 2020

Introduction. Threats to mental health and psychological well-being have been considered among the most challenging dimensions deal with COVID-19 pandemic. Objective. To track occurrence of significant anxiety depression symptoms level worry residents in Brazil June 2020. Method. The final sample totaled 4,805 participants from all Brazilian states. A sociodemographic questionnaire (with questions related COVID-19), translated versions Meta-Worry Questionnaire, 4-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-4) were used. Inferential analyses computed using Multinomial Logistic Regression (backward stepwise) which PHQ-4 findings stratified into four categories: no symptoms, only both symptoms. Results. Research shown that there are characteristics predict greater exposure (gender, age, worry), being variable greatest impact on model. Discussion conclusion. These data found during pandemic intra-crisis period allow for early prediction negative outcomes associated pandemic, such as common disorders, allocating interventions help people rationally stress this moment, regulating their emotions, improving overall health.
